The Godfather Tour |
One of the most popular movies ever made, The Godfather was filmed in a pretty village called Savoca, just 20 minutes north of Taormina. Though surprisingly not on the tourist trail, its bars and churches will resonate with fans of Francis Ford Coppola’s masterpiece.
Follow in his and Al Pacino’s footsteps and visit some of the key locations in the seminal movie, such as Bar Vitelli, one of Coppola’s favourite spots, where you can stop for a lemon granita, and the Church of St Lucia where the wedding of Apollonia and Michael Corleone was shot.
Exploring Savoca is not simply a nostalgic tour of a film location, but an enriching journey into the cultural and everyday life of a typical Sicilian village.
Savoca is a short drive from Taormina — the concierge will be happy to arrange a trip for you.
